CLIENT: United Nations Development Programme
This project centered around the introduction of technology to aid citizens to understand and detect impending flooding early on; to teach persons to interpret the technology and become advocates in their communities. To engage, educate and enable the citizenry to confidently take action.
In approaching the look and feel of this project, it was a priority to communicate what this project was about in a very clear and straightforward manner. This is due to the target audience being broad, as it varied from community to community, with many stakeholders involved. The goal was that visually, there should be no misunderstanding as to the goal of everyone involved.
While the concept of being Flood Ready is not new, localising it in this instance, allowed for it to be very clear where this effort is taking place. It gives a sense of ownership to our nationals. It states that what was designed here, the Community Flood Early Warning Systems, are for them, to aid and protect them and to improve their quality of life.
